Schedule and Playoff Rules

Until those clowns get a CBA in place, we're a little up in the air with the exact schedule for 2011 -- will it be a 16-game season? An 18-game season?  Well until we know, here are the contingencies:

If it's a 16-game season: We'll play a 14 week regular season with a two-week playoff.  Leagues will be organized into three divisions of four teams each.  You will play each team in your division twice (6 games) and each team in the other divisions once (8 games) during the regular season.

The three division winners (record) will advance to the playoffs along with one Wild Card (based on our Power Rankings).  The top seed gets to pick their Week 15 opponent, and then it's a two-week single-elimination playoff.  First and second place will move up one tier, while third and fourth place will stay in their tier (except for tier-1 where just 3rd place stays).

If it's an 18-game season: We're actually expecting and hoping for this, as it means MORE Fantasy Football!  We'll play a 16 week regular season with a three-week playoff (assuming there are two bye weeks, so 20 total weeks in the NFL season).  Leagues will be organized into two divisions of six teams each.  You will play each team in your division twice (10 games) and each team in the other division once (6 games) during the regular season.

The two division winners (record) will advance to the playoffs along with four Wildcards -- two wildcards will be determined by record, and two will be determined by Power Ranking.  The two division winners will play each other in Week 17 for the right to select their Week 18 opponent, and will be guaranteed NOT to move down (worst possible finish will be 4th place).  The four Wildcard teams will play each other in Week 17, where the losers are out and will move down and the winners will enter a two-week playoff with the division winners.  Winners in the Wildcard playoff will be guaranteed not to move down.  From there, it's a standard two-week single-elimination playoff, where 1st and 2nd place will move up a tier and 3rd and 4th place will stay in their tier.
