PFFL 2011: Here's the plan

The PFFL is back for more in 2011 -- more players, more tiers, more prizes...simply put, PFFL 2011 is going to rock.  We've tweaked and tuned a few things from our inaugural season and our original plans, so check out what we've got on tap for this year and then get yourself signed up.
First of all, for those of you returning from 2010 you will notice that we've got a new site -- everything 2010 can still be found here.  This site is temporary while we work on building out our full-blown PFFL site early -- that should be up in a few months, but until then you can get signed up, learn more about the PFFL, and keep up with new developments throughout the offseason.

So what's the plan?  We are going to go for 3 Tiers in 2011, which means our top-tier league of 12 players, four Tier-2 leagues (48 players) and a new Tier-3 with 16 leagues (192 players).  That means if we get EVERYONE back from 2010, we're going to need 204 new players this year.  So you can start telling your friends now and let's fill this up sooner rather than later!

Prizes: First, for those of you that played and won money in PFFL 2010, you can go ahead and apply those winnings when you sign up -- just shoot me an email and I'll give you direct access to my PayPal account so you can deduct your winnings from your 2011 Entry Fee and send in payment.  Otherwise, just use the sign-up module to make a payment and we'll hold the winnings in your account -- you can request payment via PayPal or leave it there for next year.

Next, we've detailed the 2011 Prize Schedule so you know exactly what you stand to win.  The top prize for winning Tier-1 this year will be $1,638 (65% of the $2,520 prize pool for Tier-1).  In addition to the prizes outlined, the PFFL will add additional prizes out of our own pocket, particularly for Tier-3 teams to make sure everyone has a shot at winning some serious cash.

Signing up: There are now 4 ways to sign up for 2011: you can sign up as an individual and join a league in the Tier or Tiers you are eligible for, you can sign up as a league commissioner if you want to manage your own league, you can sign up an entire league, or you can sign up as a division.  The latter three options all give you an instant discount against the standard entry fee.

New Rules: We're making just one tweak to the scoring rules - we're switching to a more-standard yardage point system, so it will be 1 point per 25 passing yards and 1 point per 10 rushing or receiving yards in 2011.  Otherwise, we're leaving the rest of the rules in tact.

PFFL Draft Weekend: It is our goal to have a LIVE draft in Vegas with the Tier-1 league, but we're obviously at the mercy of the NFL and their ongoing CBA negotiations, so we'll have more details on that when the schedule is final.  Bottom line -- if there's an NFL Season, we're going to be in Vegas in some capacity and everyone is invited regardless of Tier -- if we can get a whole Tier-2 or Tier-3 league there, we'll do live drafts for those.  Also, we're encouraging anyone else that wants to do a live regional draft to get together and make it happen.

Earning Cash: There are still lot's of ways to earn cash -- whether it's finding new members for the PFFL, liking us on Facebook, or contributing content either in season or during the offseason.  We'll credit your account, and if you want to get paid out before the 2011 season we'll just need your PayPal account details.  Otherwise, leave it in the bank towards 2012.

Website: The PFFL is currently in the process of building our OWN Fantasy Football web application to replace Yahoo, ESPN, Sportsline, etc.  Our goal is to ultimately provide the best Fantasy Football experience on the web -- people will want to play in the PFFL just to use our application.  That said, it's going to take some time and a lot of work to get it there, and we won't use it in 2011 unless it's ready for prime time.  So stay tuned -- you'll get a look at the new tools soon.

So don't wait -- get signed up now to lock in your spot for 2011, and then tell all your friends so you can earn cash while helping us grow!  Remember, the bigger we get the better this thing is -- bigger prizes, better competition, and just more fun.
