What is the PFFL?

Sooo...what the hell is "Professional Fantasy Football?" Are we serious?  Yes -- eventually. We've come up with a way to find out who is really the "best of the best" out there, and generate some seriously huge prizes --- enough that the elite players can truly make a living as a Fantasy Football Player.  Interested? Contact the Commissioner to apply.

How does it work? You can either join a league, or bring your whole league into the PFFL, and you will play a normal season of Fantasy Football.  Here's the key: we organize all of the leagues into Tiers, so Tier-1 is the top league, there are four leagues in Tier-2, 16 leagues in Tier-3, and so on.  Now, if you WIN your league or come in 2nd place, you get to move up to a higher-tier league the following year.  Finish in 3rd or 4th place and you stay in your Tier, and anything lower than that means you must move down.

Entry Fees and Prize Money: Starting in 2011, we're going to get some money on the line so you can start winning cash!  Here's how it works -- you'll pay a $50 entry fee for each team you enter, as well as an admin fee of $22.50 to the PFFL.  Based on the total number of teams signed up for that season, you will win prizes based on your "Tier."  Tier-1 teams stand to win the most money, then Tier-2 teams play for a bit less and so on.  Here is the full 2011 Prize Schedule, and also check out how you can easily earn your entry fee from the PFFL as well.  No cash?  No problem -- help us recruit more players and we'll pay you for your efforts.

The Draft: Most players will do an online-only auction-style draft (seriously, auction is the ONLY way to go!), but starting in 2011 we're going to host a huge draft weekend party in Las Vegas too.  Everyone is invited, and hopefully we'll have a live Tier-1 draft as the centerpiece.  We'll also do as many live drafts from Tier-2 and Tier-3 as possible, and we also are encouraging live "regional" drafts as well -- so if you've got 12 guys in, say, Dallas and want to do a live draft, GO FOR IT!  Here are the draft rules, as well as some draft strategy for this league, and historical results of the PFFL Draft for your reference.

Why should you join? The bottom line is that this is going to be fun – you get traditional fantasy football like you know and love, plus an expanding group of new folks to talk trash with and play against. The Annual Draft Weekend Party in Vegas is an event not to be missed.  Secondly, for you true Fantasy Freaks out there you won't find a better place to test your skills and play against ever-increasing quality of competition.  If you really are a great player, you will rise to the top and become a bona-fide celebrity as a Fantasy Football God!

...But let's get to the even better stuff -- how about winning money, and a LOT of it!  As this league grows, the prizes are going to get huge.  Our model is infinitely scalable -- everyone in the world could join the PFFL if they wanted to.  The best part is this: you get to play for more without paying for more.  It's not a "high-stakes" league and you won't need to risk more money to play for bigger prizes.  That's really what sets the PFFL apart.  But here's the deal: the sooner you sign up, the farther up the chain you are going to start, so don't miss that opportunity while we're still in our infancy as an organization: SIGN UP NOW!

What’s the long-term vision? This thing is long on vision – the possibilities are endless!  Simply put, the mission of the PFFL is to become the place for all things Fantasy Football, and to create a true class of Professional Fantasy Football Players.  Here are a few highlights to think about:

Potentially infinite growth – there is no limit to how many people can play in the PFFL.  Every other attempt out there to create a structure where bigger prizes can be won by a bigger pool of players fails in one of two ways: it either "maxes out" at some set number of players, or else it skews the way the game is played altogether until it's not really fantasy football anymore.  The PFFL solves those problems, and we won't be happy until all 20 Million people playing Fantasy Football are playing in the PFFL.

Truly “Professional” Fantasy Football players: this league identifies the “best of the best” and lets them work their way up the ladder.  Anybody can claim they are the best – this lets you prove it.  And with bigger and bigger prizes on the line, the Fantasy Footballers at the top might be making more money than the actual athletes.

News, Analysis, and Media: What's the worst part about all the Fantasy Football news you read out there?  Non-standard rules.  Things like, "He's a good WR4 in PPR leagues" or "he should be picked up in all IDP leagues" just piss me off.  I'm not in a PPR league, and we don't use IDP players, so your "analysis" is useless to me!  Not so in the PFFL -- when we roll out our 2011 site there will be news and analysis that's actually relevant to everyone in the league because we're all playing by the same rules.  We can have an internet call-in show that doesn't require the first two minutes of the call to be about what rules your league uses.  We can broadcast on Youtube with our own TV show that actually matters to you.  This would absolutely revolutionize the Fantasy Football media industry.

Draft Weekend Parties: The Annual PFFL Draft Weekend Party in Las Vegas is going to be awesome.  We'll start small in 2011, but as the league grows this party is going to get bigger and bigger every single year.  Imagine 10,000 rabid Fantasy Footballers descending on Vegas in 2013?  We're going to take it over...it's going to get nuts.

Sport expansion: Once we've got Football on the path to world domination, we can do Basketball, Baseball, Hockey, Golf -- everything!  Internationally we can do Soccer, Cricket, MMA, Tennis, Rugby, Aussie Rules Football -- whatever!  This is going to be huge, you see?  If you're smelling the shit we're stepping in and want to invest early, get in touch.

So that’s it – sign up now and secure your spot in the PFFL for 2011!
